Following the refusal of the inspector general of police, Ibrahim Idris, to appear before the Senate, the senators are now in a closed session to take a firm position over the issue.
The parliament summoned the Idris thrice over the rising cases of killings in the country and the arrest of the senator representing Kogi West senatorial district, Dino Melaye, Daily Trust reports.
NAIJ.com notes that the IG was to appear before the plenary on Wednesday, May 9, but didn't show up or send representative.

It was learnt that the session started at 12.24pm.
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that Ibrahim Idris, the inspector-general of police failed to honour an invitation to appear before the Senate for the third time.
The police boss who was first summoned on April 25 was invited to answer questions on the arrest of Senator Dino Melaye and killings across the country.

Recall that Idris accompanied President Muhammadu Buhari to Bauchi state the first time he (Idris) was invited to appear before the lawmakers and the second time he went to Birin Gwari, Kaduna state, on a working visit.
The Senate president, Saraki, announced his non-appearance after some minutes of wait to allow him into the chamber.
