The newly sworn-in Ekiti state governor, Kayode Fayemi, has announced his first set of appointments.

In a statement released in the evening of Tuesday, October 16, the governor named Abiodun Oyebanji as Secretary to the State Government (SSG).

The Punch reports that Governor Fayemi also appointed Biodun Omoleye as the Chief of Staff and Yinka Oyebode as Chief Press Secretary.

NAIJ.com previously reported that Fayemi, on Tuesday, October 16, formally took over the reins of power as governor of Ekiti state, with a vow to probe the administration of his predecessor, Ayo Fayose.

Delivering his inaugural address after taking his oath of office at the Ekiti Parapo Pavilion in Ado Ekiti, Fayemi said the state had been in the throes of underdevelopment and financial crisis as a result of bad governance.

The inauguration was well attended by leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), including its national leader, Bola Tinubu; Bisi Akande; John Odigie-Oyegun; APC governors in the southwest and from the northern part of the country; cabinet ministers; and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, who represented President Muhammadu Buhari.

According to Fayemi, preliminary investigations have shown that the immediate past government plunged the state into a debt of about N170 billion and committed the state to needless projects.

He said the economy of Ekiti is in a state of emergency, needing the support of the federal government within the provisions of the 1999 Constitution.
