Meanwhile, Melaye denied receiving any invitation from the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) over a protest embarked upon by members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) recently.

Melaye was supposed to appear before the police on Monday, October 8, after the police alleged that he and some others clashed with men of the law enforcement agency during the protest to the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abuja.

NAIJ.com earlier reported that a week after the conclusion of Osun state governorship election, some leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) protested against the declaration of Governor Aregbesola's chief of staff, Gboyega Oyetola, as the winner of the election.

Senate President Bukola Saraki, House of Representatives Speaker Yakubu Dogara, Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto and national chairman of the party, Uche Secondus, are among the top PDP leaders protesting in front of INEC headquarters.
