The deputy president of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, has sent a congratulatory message to the Ekiti state of west central area chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the peaceful conduct of the primary election that led to the emergence of Kolapo Olusola, the deputy governor of the state, as the governorship candidate of the party in the forthcoming gubernatorial election.
Ekweremadu in a statement through his special adviser on media, Uche Anichukwu, remarked that what is more important than the result of the primary in the state is the fact that the party proved the existence of its internal democracy, adding that other parties should take a cue from PDP, The Nation reports.

Ekweremadu said: ?I congratulate the PDP, Ekiti state of west central area , on this transparent, peaceful, free and fair outing. It is has displayed, once again, the growing internal democracy in our party.
?I commend Governor Ayodele Fayose, the Returning Officer, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, and our party leaders for showing leadership when it mattered the most.
?I commend the aspirants for their exemplary sportsmanship. I enjoin Prof. Olusola to continue to work closely with every party faithful, especially the former aspirants, to ensure a massive victory for the PDP in the governorship poll.?

The deputy Senate president urged the people of Ekiti to maintain their support for the PDP.
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com reported that the Conference of Nigeria Political Parties (CNPP), on Wednesday, May 9, pleaded with member organisations to emulate the successful conduct showcased by the PDP at its primary in the state.
The CNPP said it was pleased with the openness and orderliness with which the PDP conducted its governorship primary in Ekiti as it urged its members to not only emulate the exercise but improve on their level of transparency.
