The federal government has generated about 64,000 jobs across the nation through the 2016 National Housing Programme, the minister of works, power and housing, Babatunde Fashola has said.
Vanguard reports that Fashola during an inspection tour of the site of Federal Housing Programme for Osun state of west central region on Wednesday, February 28, said the present administration has succeeded in reducing unemployment across the nation by injecting over 2,000 housing units in the country.
The minister who was represented by Olasunkanmi Dunmoye, the south-west zonal director of the program, described the Osun site with 68 housing units comprising of 44 units of 2 bedroom flats, 20 units of 3-bedroom flats and 4 units of 1bedroom, as the best in the region.

He also commended the state governor, Rauf Aregbesola for donating large expanse of land free of charge for the programme.
?From contractors to artisans and suppliers, over 2,000 jobs were created in Osun site of the programme alone. In other 33 states where the programme is currently on, no less than 2000 jobs must have been created also.
?So, apart from addressing our housing needs as a country, this 2016 National Housing Programme has created over 64,000 job opportunities for our people across the country. More jobs will be created when the second phase starts," Fashola said.

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has said his administration is winning the war against corruption and also enforcing the rule of law.
He said this has resulted in significant growth in the non-oil sector which is creating thousands of jobs across the country.
The president made the statement on Thursday, March 1, when he spoke at a meeting with a Qatari business delegation led by the former Emir, Sheikh Hamad Al-Thani, at the presidential villa, Abuja, a statement by his senior special assistant on media and publicity, Garba Shehu, said.
In the statement obtained by NAIJ.com, Buhari said his administration?s economic agenda has always been to move away from over reliance on crude oil and food importation.
