Police in Ogun apprehend man for hacking brother, wife to death

The Ogun state police command has said that it arrested one Okwudili Okoro for allegedly hacking his elder brother, Azuibike Okoro, and his wife, Jacinta Okoro, to death. The suspect claimed to have served his deceased brother.

The Ogun state police command has said that it arrested one Okwudili Okoro for allegedly hacking his elder brother, Azuibike Okoro, and his wife, Jacinta Okoro, to death.

Okoro was said to have been arrested after one Joseph Nwagu reported at Sango division of the command that Azuibike and his wife had been hacked to death by the suspect and one Kenneth who came all the way from Sapon in Abeokuta to commit the heinous crime, Punch reports.

NAIJ.com notes that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Nasirudeen Oyedele, led detectives to the scene where the suspect was arrested but his accomplice was reported to have escaped.

According to the state's police spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi, on interrogation, the Ebonyi state -born suspect claimed to have served his deceased brother for three years in his cosmetics trade, and when it was time for him to be settled, his brother was not forthcoming.

Oyeyemi stated that the suspect further added that when he realised that his brother was not ready to settle him, he contracted his accomplice, Kenneth, who is now at large.

In his confessional statement to the police, the suspect said that he and his accomplice bought two cutlasses, sharpened them and headed to his deceased brother?s house in Ijako area of the state, adding that on getting to the deceased?s houses, they met him eating with his wife and before he could utter a word, they descended heavily on them with the cutlasses and hacked them to death.

According to Oyeyemi, the two corpses had been deposited in the mortuary at the state General Hospital, Ota for post-mortem examination.

In reacting to the crime, state's commissioner of police, Ahmed Iliyasu, appealed to residents of the state not to take any threat to their lives lightly by reporting such to the police no matter who is involved.

He ordered that the suspect be immediately transferred to the homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Abeokuta, for investigation.

He tasked the police to hunt for the escaped accomplice and bring him to book as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that a 22-year-old man identified as Dominic Ogbaji, was arrested by the police command in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja, for allegedly killing his elder brother.

According to reports, 22-year-old Dominic Ogbaji an indigene of Cross river state of south east region of south east region, had come to live with his 32-year-old elder brother, John Ogbaji, before the gruesome incident occurred.

Dominic who was a barber before relocating to his brother's house in Ajegunle, Mpape village in Abuja, had reportedly been bothering John about getting him a better job, and resorted to killing him when he felt he wasn't doing anything to help his situation.
