NGO warns of increase in sexual violence in DR Congo
Healthcare workers, who are doing what they can to care for victims of violence in eastern DR Congo, say that they have seen a distressing increase in the number of people who have been targetted by sexual violence. Since 2021, survivors - both children and adults - have increasingly been presenting with serious physical damage and psychological trauma after ordeals that local medics say are carried out by the multiple armed groups that operate in the region.
