More than one in seven trains late in last year as rail punctuality plummets to its worst since 2005

Just 85.9 per cent of trains in Britain arrived on time in the 12 months to the end of September in a 13-year low. The news comes weeks before the average rail ticket goes up by 3.1 per cent.
